29.9 nm ridges and spaces
The record-breaking pattern was fabricated using an interference immersion lithography set-up which IBM calls NEMO. The tool uses two intersecting laser beams to create interference patterns with spacings closer than can be produced with current chip-making apparatus. The result is a pattern of discrete ridges and spaces only 29.9 nm wide. (Credit: IBM)
