| JDSU was running a simple demo of the power-over-fiber technology, which it gained through the acquisition of Photonic Power. Laser light passes through a standard optical fiber (the green cable at the top of this image) onto a tiny solar cell where it is converted into electricity. In the demo unit shown here, the electricity is used to drive a motor. |
