| This is a side by side comparison of the far field (ordinary microscopy) and near-field Raman images for the same 2 micron by 2 micron area dispersed with carbon nanotubes. In the first figure, a scale bar of 500 nm has been included. Both images are optical, where the signal intensity is integrated only over the Raman spectral lines.
