| Engineers install the world's first permanent fibre-optic monitoring station for multicomponent seismic sensing. The system uses interferometry to record seismic events and was developed by US company Weatherford and its Norwegian subsidiary Optoplan. It will give oil company TotalFinaElf improved time-lapsed images of its gas reservoir. |
