Opening Up Photonics (OUP) is a platform for photonics professionals to discuss the human angle of the future of photonics in the UK. We provide a forum for discussion and best practice suggestions regarding diversity and inclusivity in photonics, with a focus on celebrating female successes in this area, and understanding gender equity issues in the community.
Opening Up Photonics in Wales will focus its discussion on how to introduce women into engineering in general and photonics in particular. Aimed at informing both recruiters and companies, this event aims to facilitate the discussion between the groups and establish future routes to follow in recruitment.
The event is organised by SPIE Europe, the University of Glasgow, Glyndwr Innovations Ltd, the Welsh Optoelectronics Forum, the Institute of Physics in Wales and Chwarae Teg. The Organisers intend to help enable diverse groups to work in photonics, an exciting and under-explored technology.
