C-RED One and C-RED 2: SWIR high-performance cameras

Designed for high-end scientific applications, the range of high performance infrared cameras created by First Light Imaging are the right solution for your imaging needs.

The C-RED cameras are dedicated to Short Wave Infrared imaging. Initially developed for astronomy, they can be also used for bioimaging or industrial applications, in very low light conditions and any environment. Covering from 0.8 µm to 1.7 µm or 2.5 µm with cold optics, with a very good quantum efficiency, they offer the fastest acquisition rate of all SWIR cameras for a very sensitive high resolution imaging.

C-RED One is a SWIR camera based on the e-APD technology, with a state of the art 320 x 256 MCT 24 µm pixels sensor, and is specifically dedicated to photon counting applications. Able to detect 3500 images per second with a read out noise under one electron, C-RED One is literally making the invisible visible. C-RED One also offers low background, wide spectral response, and outstanding cosmetics compared to other SWIR cameras. The camera can be operated in extreme and remote locations, thanks to its autonomous cryogenic cooling system. With its user-friendly interface and a large variety of read out techniques, C-RED One is the perfect equipment for adaptive optics and research.

C-RED 2 is a high performance, high speed, low noise and low cost SWIR camera, outperforming the capacities of its 640 x 512 InGaAs 15 µm pixels high resolution sensor. Thanks to its state of the art electronics, software, and innovative mechanics, C-RED 2 is capable of unprecedented performances: up to 400 images per second full frame, with a read out noise from 10 to 30 electrons. The sensor embeds an electronic shutter with an opening width lower than 5 µs. C-RED 2 is also capable of windowing and multiple nondestructive readouts, allowing faster image rate while maintaining a very low noise. Smart, compact and easily embeddable, remote controlled, as easy as plug-and-play, C-RED 2 is able to equip any system over the world.

C-RED One and C-RED 2 are both SWIR commercial cameras made in France by First Light Imaging. Their performances and latest results will be presented in the “Innovative Photonics Instrumentation” conference (#10539, session 8) during the next Photonics West exhibition in San Francisco.
