- Perform bidirectional Raman modeling and optimization with all signal-pump-noise-backscatter interactions
- Import OTDR traces representing local insertion loss and reflections for true estimation of Raman gain in installed fibers
- Model sophisticated Er- or/and Yb-doped fiber amplifiers using either Giles parameters or gain/absorption cross sections
- Investigate concentration quenching, excited state absorption, gain temperature dependence, and spectral hole burning
- Design co-doped waveguide amplifiers and consider excited-state absorption and concentration quenching
- Characterize amplifier performance and estimate BER using specialist instrumentation
- Explore gain flattening, pump reuse and multistage amplifier and laser design with a wide range of passive component models
- Implement gain or power control schemes using feedback loops and control circuits
