24 Feb 2006 Melles Griot Announces a New Family of Free-Space Diode Lasers with Output at 408, 442 and 638nm. Carlsbad, California - Melles Griot a global supplier of photonics components and subsystems, announces the 56 RCS series, a new family of high-performance diode laser assemblies with output at 408 nm (>50mW), 442nm (>36 mW), or 638nm (>28 mW).
Based on the proven Melles Griot 56 ICS Technology, the 56 RCS-series platform is designed to satisfy the requirements of both OEM and end-user applications. The new platform incorporates advanced optics positioning techniques that provide repeatable and consistent optical performance with far field circularity of >95%, precisely controlled beam divergence, and accurate waist location. A new user interface, which includes an hour meter and diagnostic LEDs enables operator control of both laser and thermoelectronic cooler current.
All units are available with inputs for both digital and analog modulation with a bandwidth in excess of 300 MHz (<1nsec rise/fall time). This convenient feature can be used to adjust output power when limited or controlled sample illumination or excitation is critical. Built-in modulation simplifies OEM systems design and reduces overall cost and size by eliminating the need for external modulators, shutters, or attenuators. These lasers are ideal for applications including reprographics, fluorescence, and metrology.
