piezoelectrical gripper with 300microns motion

27 Jun 2006

Accurate high speed motion of piezo actuator is transformed to 300µm opening. Due to compact dimensions, the piezogripper is ideally suited for OEM applications. All kinds of handling and manipulation of small parts are potential applications.

piezosystem jena has developed a special gripper system for gripping and moving the smallest components in micro, and nano-technology. The gripper is based on a miniaturized piezo actuator and assures the gripping of tiny components. Due to the solid state flexure hinges design the range of motion is 300microns. In combination with adaptable tools this system can be enlarged accordingly. A piezoelectrical actuator with sub-nm resolution ensures a precise aperture angle in the direction of motion. The actuator is closed by the elastic resilience of a spring. Correlative to the applied spring the gripper force can be adjusted precisely. The outside design of the gripper can be configured easily. Therefore, an ideal adaptation to costumer requests is easily realized. A simple analog voltage signal in the range of 0...150V is needed for controlling. The technical requirements for an optimal system integration is relatively low. Also the tool collet on the moving part of the gripper can be costumer-designed. This makes the gripper system by piezosystem jena perfect for OEM applications.
