The European Photovoltaic Industry Association announced yesterday that Reinhold Buttgereit takes office as the new EPIA Secretary General.
The Board of Directors of EPIA, the European Photovoltaic Industry Association, is pleased to announce that Reinhold Buttgereit has been appointed as Secretary General from 1st May this year.
“Reinhold brings with him a wealth of experience in the European energy sector as well as a sound and most relevant mix of European, national and local lobbying knowledge, paired with a pragmatic and entrepreneurial management approach” said the President of EPIA, Ingmar Wilhelm, “Over the many years that he has worked with governmental and European institutions, he has shown a very broad understanding of EU and national industry policy and how to effectively operate therein, with a strong focus on the energy sector”.
After earning his PhD in Landscape Architecture from Technical University of Berlin, Reinhold Buttgereit worked as an expert in environmental impact assessment, mediation and project management at the technical consultancy firm Prognos as well as at the Berlin utility Bewag, and then in public affairs and lobbying at Vattenfall Europe over the last 12 years, building up, inter alia, the Vattenfall office in Brussels.
The President of EPIA added: “Reinhold’s outstanding professional and personal qualities make him the right person to face these challenging times for the photovoltaic industry. He will also build on a very motivated and competent team of senior and young professionals at EPIA, and take over from Mrs. Eleni Despotou who successfully managed the Association during the past months and will continue her responsibilities within EPIA.”
The Board of Directors welcomes Reinhold to EPIA and wishes him a perfect start and all the best for the many challenges and opportunities ahead.
