Laser Light Engines Ships DSG-265™ GREEN Color Modules to First Non-Cinema OEM Application

Date Announced: 04 Jun 2013

Company Enters New Market With Laser Product Slated for High-Precision Metrology Systems.

SALEM, NH--(Marketwired - Jun 4, 2013) - Laser Light Engines, Inc., (LLE), a leader in laser illumination for high-brightness digital cinema and performance projection, today announced the first shipment of its DSG-265™ despeckled GREEN color modules for an OEM application outside of the cinema industry.

"Our patent-pending despeckling technology is helping to revolutionize cinema with cleaner, brighter images, and this shipment indicates that other industries are ready to take advantage of our production-ready technology, too," said Bill Beck, founder and EVP at LLE.

Beck said the unit was shipped to an undisclosed customer who will incorporate the laser into precision 3D metrology systems that will be sold to end-users such as automakers, jet engine manufacturers, mobile phone makers, and other applications where extreme precision and high throughput is required. The announcement comes on the heels of another milestone for LLE, the first production shipment to a major cinema company last month.

The despeckled green color module is the flagship technology for Laser Light Engines, enabling a new generation of illumination applications, especially in 2D and 3D digital cinema where the computer-controlled illumination system can retrofit to thousands of cinemas worldwide. Beck said the DSG-265 delivers light via optical fiber cable, providing almost unlimited flexibility to incorporate the module into a wide variety of applications, systems and environments.

"This is another indication that our universal approach to laser illumination technology is paying off, as we are now moving to production manufacturing of components and systems in multiple industries," Beck said.

The DSG-265 is available as a system building block or in a stand-alone system that includes power supplies and cooling. It is also available as part of a complete RGB laser illumination system.
