CPV "Boot Camp" Workshops to Explore Rewards and Challenges of Power Plant Development Using Concentrator Photovoltaics (CPV)

Date Announced: 21 Sep 2010

CPV Consortium Partners With Solar Power International and European Photovoltaic Industry Association to Present Focused Workshops for Solar Project Developers, Utilities and Financiers.

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sep 21, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The CPV Consortium, a global non-profit industry organization, will hold two "CPV Boot Camp" Workshops designed specifically to provide the necessary tools for solar project developers, utilities and financiers to evaluate Concentrator Photovoltaic (CPV) systems as a compelling technology for medium and large scale projects deployed in the solar rich regions of the world. These one-day seminars provide a unique opportunity for attendees because they are focused, concise, and cover only those issues which matter to individuals and companies deploying projects.

"CPV technology is being deployed globally today, but as a comparatively new technology there has been a lack of information and analytical tools available to help project developers and utilities make informed decisions on CPV technology in new projects," said Nancy Hartsoch, chair of the CPV Consortium. "The goal of our 'Boot Camp' workshop is simple - to enable a more thorough evaluation of CPV technology as a broadly applicable option for solar plants...in a factual approach without commercial messages."

Workshop details:

• The first workshop is being held in partnership with Solar Power International in Los Angeles, California on Monday, October 11, 2010 at the Los Angeles Convention Center from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. -- To register for this workshop go to: https://www.solarpowerinternational.com

• The second workshop is being held in partnership with the European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA) following its Thin Film Conference on Wednesday, November 10, 2010. -- To register for this conference go to http://www.epia.org/events/upcoming-events/1st-epia-international-cpv-conference.html

• Both full day seminars will feature presentations and discussion from industry experts along with virtual tours of CPV plants generating electricity today.

• The workshops are designed for developers, utilities, and energy directors for public and private organizations, especially those seeking to optimize energy production, deploy projects rapidly and meet requirements for sustainable energy sources.
