Raydiance accelerates industrial grade femtosecond micromachining

Date Announced: 04 Dec 2012

Raydiance, the world leader in industrial grade femtosecond laser manufacturing solutions, has doubled the processing speed of its R-series ultrafast product line. The R-200 features 10 watts of average power and can cut, drill, scribe and mark precision parts at breathtaking rates.

“The R-200 drills fuel injector nozzles in less than a second,” said Philippe Brak, global sales manager at Raydiance. “To customers, this means it is four times faster than traditional EDM solutions, even faster when you consider that the part is finished in a single step—meaning no further processing is required.”
Indeed, manufacturers are embracing femtosecond laser technology in multiple industries. The pulse of light is so fast that it removes material particle by particle, faster than the part can absorb heat, which would otherwise cause melting, burring or recast that would need to be treated with multiple clean up procedures. Instead, the Raydiance solution creates a finished part to precise specifications in a single process.

“Making parts in one step is changing the economics of micro manufacturing,” said Brak. “Medical, automotive and consumer product manufactures are enjoying better parts, faster production and higher yields at an average of 50 percent lower cost per part.”

Raydiance systems are displacing earlier generation lasers, electronic and mechanical micro machining solutions by delivering unmatched precision, industrial-grade reliability and an even better value proposition.
