| Often based around the detection of laser-induced fluorescence signals, flow cytometry is a widely used technique in cell biology, and has become the dominant tool used to identify and classify cell types. BCC predicts that the market for cytometer hardware will grow quickly through 2020, although it is being held back somewhat by the generally high cost of the technology.
