| Named after the colorful family of tropical birds, Planet Labs' 'Tanager' satellites will carry hyperspectral imagers based on pioneering hardware developed by NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab. The constellation will eventually enable persistent Earth observation across infrared wavelengths, with the data made available on a commercial basis - much like Planet Labs' existing high-resolution optical imagery.
