Melles Griot Photonics announced 5/27/2000 that it completed the sales of Technical Optics Limited (TOL) to CVI Laser Corporation (CVI). TOL is a leading manufacturer of high quality laser optics and optical thin film coatings. Located on the Isle of Man, TOL has been a supplier of high damage threshold laser optics for over 25 years.
Technical Optics Limited has been part of the Melles Griot group of companies for 12 years. "The transfer of TOL to CVI is part of our efforts to rationalize our production capacity," said Blake Fennell, Chief Operating Officer of Melles Griot Photonics. Melles Griot will keep TOL products in its product line and will retain worldwide sales representation for TOL. In addition, Melles Griot will now have sales representation for CVI products
Haggie Hahn, CVI Chairman, said: "TOL fits naturally into CVI's strategic focus on high quality laser optics. This acquisition will enable us to improve our participation in the European laser market." CVI is the world's largest manufacturer of high quality laser optics. CVI will merge its existing UK operations into TOL to create one of the largest thin filmcoating facilities in Europe. CVI and TOL will continue to focus on high quality, fast delivery and excellent customer technical support.
"We are looking forward to joining CVI," said Jacky Vel, General Manager of Technical Optics Limited. "Our technologies complement each other well and adding CVI's capabilities to TOL's will enable us to provide customers with better products and service," continued Ms. Vel. TOL will retain itsproduction facility on the Isle of Man with enhanced capacity from CVI's UK based operations.
