EII and Photonics East draw 5400

More than 5400 scientists and engineers met at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston in November for Photonics East and Electronic Imaging International. The week-long presentation of conferences, courses, and products was the largest event SPIE has ever held on the East Coast of the United States, with exhibit traffic exceeding 2200 walk-ins.

SPIE's international symposia on Voice Video and Data Communications (VVDC) moves to Pittsburgh in 1997. SPIE's symposium on Intelligent Systems and Advanced Manufacturing (ISAM) will be held in Dallas next October. VVDC '97 will feature additional conferences on network engineering and multimedia technologies, according to meting planners, while ISAM '97 adds expanded conferences on automation and computer robotics.
