ILDA reveals laser display winners

25 Nov 2004

The International Laser Display Association presents its annual awards for technical and artistic excellence.

In what are viewed as the laser display industry's equivalent to the Hollywood Oscars, the International Laser Display Association (ILDA) has handed out its annual awards for outstanding technological and artistic achievement.

The ILDA awards are split into twelve categories including everything from laser displays at outdoor festivals and theme parks to corporate productions and abstract shows. Three new categories made their debut this year for laser displays in nightclubs and discos; video and film productions; and live stage performances.

The first "Best in Show", for what the judges deemed the crème-de-la-crème of all the category winners, was also presented at the award ceremony in Las Vegas last month.

A total of 16 companies from five countries walked away with this year's prizes. The big winner of the night was German-firm LOBO electronic which won three first prizes after having ten entries short-listed within the twelve categories.

The best-in-show accolade however went to US-based LFI International for its "Surpraser" entry into the "Best use of laser in a live stage performance" category.

Other winners included Orion Art Production for its Panasonic Casino entry into the corporate graphics category; HB-Laserkomponenten for its Barbie Pop Party entry into the best nightclub display category and Laser System Europe for its Flying Laser entry into the most innovative laser display application category.
