Israeli lidar firm benefiting from what it sees as a transformational shift to 'physical AI'.
Innoviz Technologies, the Tel Aviv company specializing in lidar technology for automotive, industrial, and security applications, has posted annual sales of $55.1 million for 2025, more than double the 2024 figure of $24.3 million.
That momentum is largely due to efforts by key customers including Daimler Truck, VW, BMW, and Mobileye to advance their autonomous trucking and driving platforms, and for 2026 Innoviz has forecast that full-year sales will increase to approximately $70 million.
‘Physical AI’
Company CEO and co-founder Omer Keilaf told an investor call discussing the latest results: “We believe Innoviz is in a very strong position for 2026 and the years ahead, as we expect to play a significant role in what could be one of the most important technological advances of the future.
“After transforming digital workflows through software and large language models, AI is moving into the physical world. It will power vehicles, robots, infrastructures, and machines that must perceive, reason, and act under real-world constraints and [in] real-time.”
Keilaf refers to that shift in applications as “physical AI”, pointing out that it relies on fast and accurate perception of physical realm - something that lidar can provide.
“Perception powers models grounded not in text or images, but in physics, and they are meant to emulate complex real-world systems,” he said. “Lidar is emerging as the most reliable method for digitizing the physical world into accurate, real-time presentations, creating trusted world models that can drive machine decisions.”
For now, Innoviz’ business remains dominated by early-stage engineering development contracts and the adoption of lidar in so-called “Level 3” and “Level 4” autonomous driving applications, with Keilaf highlighting the significance of the deal with Daimler Truck and its subsidiary Torc Robotics.
“Innoviz will provide multiple lidars per vehicle for [Daimler’s] Level 4, Class 8 Freightliner Cascadia platform,” he confirmed. “We have already begun shipping units to support Daimler's trucking fleet.”
VW’s ID Buzz
Acceptance by Daimler gives Keilaf confidence that Innoviz is well positioned to gain additional wins in trucking applications, and that the requirements of Level 4 autonomy will spur lidar deployments.
“The case for Level 4 has become very clear to the automakers,” he said. “They see the benefit of adding content to a vehicle, eliminating the driver, and deploying the vehicles in fleets.
“Waymo's success is pushing others forward. At [the Consumer Electronics Show in 2026], about two-thirds of the customers and potential customers we met were focused on Level 4 applications.”
Other customers working towards series production of Level 4 systems include Mobileye and VW, for example to equip VW’s latest “ID Buzz” electric minivan.
“I just recently toured the VW ID Buzz production line in Germany, and it was truly impressive,” noted the CEO. “This is the first automotive series production of a Level 4 robotaxi in the world, and it was very exciting to see our suite of nine lidars being installed on each vehicle.”
Rising demand from series production vehicles during 2026 will also see Innoviz unit volumes ramp up via its contract manufacturing partner Fabrinet, Keilaf said.
Innoviz’ latest results also showed improved performance on the bottom line, with the 2025 pre-tax loss of $67.6 million down from $94.6 million in 2024.
