LASER COMPONENTS Supports Environmental Project in Mexico - The Photonic Forest Is Growing

LASER COMPONENTS supports the Plant-for-the-Planet foundation’s renaturation project as one way of contributing to solving the climate crisis.  Instead of the usual employee Christmas gift this past year, the Paul family decided to support the foundation’s Yucatán Restoration Programme in Mexico.  At the start, forty trees were financed for each employee . Thanks to this commitment and donations from staff members, the “Photonic Forest” already comprises of more than 10,000 trees.

The ‘Photonic Forest’ is part of an extensive renaturation project in which former forest areas are being reclaimed.  In the process, the experts pay very close attention to selecting the right trees and plant only species typical of the region.  The seeds for rearing are obtained from the surrounding forests.

“We can’t save the world with trees, but trees can buy us valuable time in the fight against climate change by pulling CO₂ out of the atmosphere,” says Felix Finkbeiner, founder of Plant-for-the-Planet. “In our projects, it is important to us to focus on nature.  We don’t want to create artificial tree plantations but rather to allow nature to reclaim the forest that humans once took from it.  In this endeavour, we are supported by scientists and environmental experts on site.”
