Knight Optical’s IR-cut filters | |
25 Mar 2021 Knight Optical is delighted to announce its range of standard and precision IR cut filters designed to block UV and NIR wavelengths, whilst transmitting over 90% in the visible region (400-700nm). These 1mm thick filters are designed to have a sharp transition between transmitting the visible waveband and reflecting both UV and NIR regions. This is critical in camera applications, which utilise CMOS and CCD detector systems, where the sensors are particularly sensitive to NIR light. If stray NIR light is allowed into the sensor it can compromise the integrity of the image. The addition of an IR-cut filter can produce true to life colour. Our filters are manufactured by applying a hot mirror coating to a borosilicate or UV fused silica substrate, while the precision filters have an additional AR coating on the opposite surface to optimise transmission in the visible wavelengths. Knight Optical holds stock filters ranging from 5mm in diameter up to 50mm, and we can also cut and edge custom filters to any dimensions with a short lead time. For a fully custom IR-cut filter, with a differing thickness and coating, please contact our sales team who can help you with your enquiry. Visit our website here for further information. All IR-cut filters are fully inspected in Knight Optical’s state-of-the-art metrology laboratory, using our Cary 5000 spectrophotometer to ensure they meet the transmission requirements. Our customers can have confidence that all their optical components meet specification, whether it is our stock filters or your own bespoke requirements. Contact our technical sales team to discover how Knight Optical’s high quality optics and superior service can improve your instrumentation and supply chain experience.
