Measure Near-IR LEDs and Lasers: Angular Distribution and Intensity | |
25 Sep 2020 Easily measure the intensity of near-infrared light sources used for sensing applications, from facial and gesture recognition to eye tracking and lidar. The Radiant Vision Systems Near-Infrared (NIR) Intensity Lens system is an integrated camera/lens that measures the angular distribution and radiant intensity of near-infrared emitters. The NIR Intensity Lens utilizes Fourier optics to capture a full angular distribution of light in a single measurement to ±70 degrees, giving you extremely fast, accurate results during in-line quality control. Manufacturers of 3D sensing systems can apply the NIR Intensity Lens to measure direct NIR LED and laser (VCSEL) emissions, as well as structured light patterns containing tens of thousands of dots. The solution is equipped with NIR measurement software featuring a unique test suite for measuring the qualities of near-IR LED and laser sources. Evaluate flux, power, dot patterns, dot positions, flood source uniformity, intensity hot spots, and intensity falloff as direct measurements given in angular coordinates. The lens system can be integrated into production lines using factory communications for fully automated testing, as well as used in the lab for light source characterization.
