16 Mar 2020 LASER COMPONENTS offers beam expanders for CO2 lasers, useful for guiding the beam over long distances, and increasing power density in the focal point. CO2 beam expanders use AR coated ZnSe lenses in an aluminium housing, and are available in three variants; fixed, variable and zoom. Fixed beam expanders are an inexpensive solution, without the option of adjusting the focussing range. With variable beam expanders, the spacing between the lenses may be adjusted to compensate for the divergence of the input beam. In addition to compensating for divergence and convergence, zoom beam expanders also offer an infinitely variable magnification level ranging from 2x to 8x the original size. Beam expanders do not generate an intermediate focus, and are suitable for typical medium power levels up to approximately 100W.
