Electronic Autocollimators of MÖLLER-WEDEL OPTICAL GmbH

28 Apr 2014

The flagship of the electronic autocollimators, the ELCOMAT HR-C, is an angle measuring instrument for applications requiring the highest accuracy possible.

Its ultra-robust opto-mechanical design, as well as specially developed evaluation and calibration algorithms, are the basis for its unparalleled accuracy. These outstanding features make it the reference instrument of choice for many national metrology institutes. The new design reflects the outstanding position of this instrument in the market.

The key distinguishing parameters of the ELCOMAT HR-C are:

  • Measuring range ±150 arcsec
  • Resolution 0.001 arcsec
  • Accuracy ±0.01 arcsec over any 10 arcsec measuring range
  • Accuracy ±0.03 arcsec over the total measuring range

Application examples:

  • Calibration of autocollimators of lower accuracy
  • Calibration of polygon mirrors
  • Calibration of plane-parallel optical flats in transmission
  • Calibration of rotary tables

Besides the newly designed ELCOMAT HR-C, MÖLLER-WEDEL OPTICAL GmbH, “The Angle Company”, offers a large family of electronic autocollimators to accomplish most angular measurements.

The well-known ELCOMAT 3000 with accuracy better than 0.1 arcsec and a measuring range of 2000 arcsec, is the ideal instrument for high precision measuring tasks in the machine tool industry, optical industry, semiconductor industry and research.

The ELCOMAT vario line consists of several electronic autocollimators with different measuring ranges and accuracies, i.e. different focal lengths. The application areas are similar to that of ELCOMAT 3000.

ELCOMAT HR-C, ELCOMAT 3000 as well as ELCOMAT vario line, all use the same intelligent display unit. The large display screen with intuitive operation allows for comfortable reading of the measured angle values. Of course, a laptop or computer can be connected to the display unit for automated data collection and analysis.

Application examples:

  • Calibration of autocollimators, polygons, rotary and indexing tables
  • Measurement of straightness, parallelism- , and squareness of machine guide ways
  • Measurement of flatness of surface plates
  • Alignment of optical mirrors

Finally, the ELCOMAT direct line consists of cost effective electronic autocollimators with accuracies between 3 arcsec and 0.4 arcsec. The ELCOMAT direct line is capable of automatic and simultaneous detection of reflections from up to 10 surfaces. As a result, wedge angle or the error of the 90° angle of 90° prisms can be calculated automatically from these reflections. The ELCOMAT direct autocollimators can be easily integrated in automated processes.

Application examples:

  • Automation in assembly
  • Wedge and prism measurement
  • Control of angular positions
