08 Apr 2013 Redfern Integrated Optics (RIO) adds high-bandwidth modulation feature to ORION™ module
Santa Clara, Calif. – January 22, 2013 – Redfern Integrated Optics (RIO), a global leader in single frequency narrow linewidth lasers and laser systems, announced the availability of its ORION™ ultra-low phase noise laser module with expanded modulation bandwidth, allowing direct modulation of the laser with frequencies up to 200 MHz. PLANEX™ and ORION™ lasers developed by RIO are the only ultra-low noise narrow linewidth lasers available on the market with direct amplitude and frequency modulation capabilities, enabling cost effective and reliable modulation solutions without the need for external modulators or piezoelectric fiber stretchers.
Applications for RIO’s ultra-low noise lasers include distributed acoustic fiber optic sensing, coherent Doppler wind LIDAR, distributed temperature and strain fiber optic sensing, microwave photonics, navigational gyroscopes, and heterodyne metrology.
The new modulation feature enables better performance and usability of ORION™ lasers in fiber optic sensing applications by allowing high frequency dithering, as well as new cost effective locking and heterodyning solutions.
