03 May 2011 Lasertec offer our diffusion bonding technology. Diffusion bonding is epoxy-free optical paths that are 100% optically transparent with negligible scattering and absorptive losses at the interfaces - the zero thickness bondline features no residue, no wedge and no outgassing. It offers bond strengths often times equal to the strength of the bulk materials being bonded, thus is exceptionally durable, reliable and resistant to temperature and humidity. Our bonding technology produce high energy laser optics and solid state laser components such as polarizing beamsplitter cubes,NdYAG,NdYVO4 and KTP.
Our standard test for the quality of the diffusion bonding and to distinguish from simple optical contacting is as follows:
We heat up the bonded crystals to 100°C and then we put them in a cold water (about 15° temperature).only for NdYAG crystals
In case of well diffusion bonded crystals, nothing happens due to this sudden temperature change. In case of optical contacting, the "bonded " parts fall apart, or there will appear a clearly visible interference pattern at the interface between the two crystals.
