High-sensitivity detector for YAG laser monitoring

21 May 2026

Hamamatsu Photonics announces the release of the S17348 Si PIN photodiode, developed for high-speed YAG laser detection and other optical measurement applications requiring fast, reliable signal monitoring. The device is designed for use in laser-based and analytical systems where both infrared sensitivity and response speed are important.

The S17348 delivers a photosensitivity of 0.37 A/W at 1060 nm and a cutoff frequency of 120 MHz at a reverse voltage of 100 V. It also features a large photosensitive area to support efficient signal capture in practical optical setups.

The photodiode is housed in a robust TO-5 metal package designed to support stable, long-term operation. This makes it well suited to laboratory research, industrial laser systems, and analytical instruments where consistent performance and durability are important.

Typical target applications include YAG laser detection, optical measurement and monitoring, analytical instruments, and industrial laser systems. By combining infrared sensitivity, fast response, and reliable packaging, the S17348 supports demanding applications across industrial, scientific, and analytical environments.
