Isle of Man-based Manx Precision Optics (MPO), a leading manufacturer of precision optical components, has announced the commissioning of a new, state-of-the-art electron beam coating chamber. This strategic investment significantly increases the company's production capacity and enhances its ability to produce highly complex and accurate optical coatings.
The new chamber, the fourth at MPO's facility, is equipped with an advanced control system that allows for remote monitoring and management, improving operational efficiency. This system enables longer, more complex coating runs with greater deposition accuracy and faster throughput, thanks to a state-of-the-art crystal monitoring system and cutting-edge electron beam guns. The remote management capabilities also streamline maintenance, with the potential for remote diagnosis and resetting of the machine, leading to higher uptime.
The custom-built coating machine was supplied by EVAP Solutions, UK distributors for I-Photonics, in collaboration with the Lithuanian supplier. The system incorporates a 10-position quartz monitoring system and the latest electron guns from Ferrotec.

The system is based around an I-Photonics 10 position quartz monitoring system and the most up to date electron guns from Ferrotec. Combined with smart software, we’ve developed a system which is easy to manage and capable of highly effective and efficient coating operation. We’re confident in the value this provides to MPO.”
