Date Announced: 01 Dec 2020
Microdiamant, leading specialist for diamond-based solutions for fine grinding, lapping and polishing of high precision surfaces, is one of the "hidden champions" of Eastern Switzerland. Now Microdiamant acquires US-based Eminess Technologies to continue to grow in several dimensions. The company is thus significantly expanding its international presence and its range of products and solutions in one go and secures a key position in high-growth market segments.
In recent years, Microdiamant, a Swiss-based company, managed by brothers Martin and Daniel Spring in the third generation, has invested heavily in organic growth. With the acquisition of Eminess Technologies (www.eminess.com), the company is now going one step further: It is doubling the number of employees to 120 and strengthening the strategic expansion of its business. The acquisition will secure Microdiamant better access to the U.S. market while in turn giving Eminess better access to the European and Asian market. The merger also taps into growth opportunities in the semiconductor industry, which is benefiting from the expansion of electric mobility and 5G / IoT. The two companies' complementary product ranges and combined know-how will enable them to offer seamless surface finishing solutions for key industries such as compound semiconductors, electronics, optics, precision engineering, luxury goods, medical technology.
Leading global supplier of surface finishing solutions The merger will allow the two companies to form the global go-to supplier of surface finishing solutions for high-tech materials. Following Martin Spring, CEO of Microdiamant AG, "Eminess shares the same set of values as we do and is driven by a strong entrepreneurial and innovations spirit as well as the ambition to meet the highest quality standards". Eminess also works hand in hand with its customers in the same way to provide them with optimized solutions and products that are economic and reliable. "We will strengthen our global presence through our complementary distribution channels and market presence. By combining and aligning our products and technologies, we will be able to offer our customers unsurpassed process know-how and a comprehensive portfolio of products and services. In the end, we are taking out the complexity of the surface finishing process for our customers, and that will save time and money for them. ," Martin Spring continues.
New brand, production sites and HQ unchanged Lengwil, Switzerland, will stay the global headquarters of the merged company, with all current production sites of Eminess and Microdiamant remaining the same. To ensure a smooth integration, the Eminess management team will also be retained, including the current CEO, Dan Koharko, who will act as Senior Director during the transition period. The merged company will be the only supplier in the market to offer seamless surface finishing solutions from a single source. "To bring our expanded offering to the market, we have decided to operate under a new company name and brand in the future," said Daniel Spring, Managing Director of Spring Group. "The Pureon name perfectly conveys the core of our expanded business".
