Oxford Lasers: a Picture of Genuine Success in the Laser Industry

Date Announced: 22 Jan 2015

30 years of building a practical expertise and an ambitious new project for 2015: announcing a bright future for a leading edge company.

Oxford Lasers, founded in 1977 by Physicists from the University of Oxford, to develop laser technology have progressed to be a world leading supplier of advanced laser micromachining tools and particle and droplet analysis equipment. The company is delighted to announce that 2014 has been the company’s most successful year to date, with the company’s customers including some of the world’s largest hi-tech companies.

The Sales growth has come in all three major business areas, Laser MicroMachining Subcontract, Laser MicroMachining Tools and High Speed Imaging. In order to support this expansion, new staff has been recruited and the company’s management is being strengthened in line with this business growth.

The Sales and After Sales Operations are being grouped under Alan Ferguson as Sales Director. Robert Dean has become full time After Sales Manager to ensure excellent support to the company’s much expanded customer base. Arran Nolan has joined the company as International Sales Manager to boost the Sales function and support the US office. Together they will embark on a new approach for 2015: ensuring ever-closer contact to customers and their needs.

In addition Oxford Lasers has recently launched their third generation micromachining tools.  These tools bring together many man-years of knowledge, supplemented by the introduction of new modules across the product range.  To enhance the manufacturing process, Steve Batts has joined the company as Production Manager.

At board level, Andrew Kearsley, one of the founders of the business, has become Chairman of the Board, as well as his existing role as R&D Director. John Baker has moved to become a non executive Director and Martyn Knowles has stepped up to be Chief Executive Officer.  Martyn originally established the company’s subcontract business which is now the bedrock of the micromachining division and as Technical Director has been responsible for the design of the company’s very successful range of micromachining tools.

Martyn commented that “I am very honoured to have this opportunity to lead Oxford Lasers during this exciting time in the growth of the business. Under John’s leadership we have developed a great team and world-class products in our niche markets. I look forward to expanding on this strong foundation as we continue to develop industry-leading technologies in laser micro-machining and imaging products.”
