New England Optical Systems Expands Facility to Support Growth

Date Announced: 10 Dec 2014

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Optical Systems, Inc. (NEOS) announced today that they have expanded in their facility to 14,000 square feet.  Todd Stolberg, Chief Operating Officer at NEOS, had this to say about the expansion, “We are extremely pleased that we have been able to do this expansion within the same location.  We moved from our original location into this larger facility back in 2009. It is fortunate that this additional space recently became available.  With the growth we have experienced in 2014 and with the backlog we now have going into 2015, the additional space is required to support our growing business.  Modifications in the production area to support our expansion will be done in December, which will allow us to hit the ground running the first of the year.”

In addition to the facility expansion, NEOS has hired 5 new full time employees.  According to Peter Kornik, the director of business development at NEOS, this decision was not made lightly.  “We have been talking extensively with our customers, as well as looking hard at our forecast, and have determined that these moves are essential to supporting our business.  Managing growth is vital to a small company, especially when working with prime contractors and government agencies.  We want to maintain the versatility of a small company, while complying with government regulations and the quality standards of the defense industry.  This expansion and the new hires will allow us to do just that.”

New England Optical Systems, Inc. designs and manufactures infrared optical assemblies, including continuous zoom, DFOV and objective lenses for the MWIR, SWIR, & LWIR wavebands.  They support defense programs for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), Navigation, Target Acquisition, Situational Awareness, as well as commercial thermal imaging applications.  Platforms include border surveillance towers, remote weapon stations for light armored vehicles (LAV), unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), and man portable.  Additionally they support IR scene projection (IRSP) and astronomical instrumentation.
