Cell transfection in action
The irradiation of gold nanoparticles deposited on the cell membrane triggers the formation of vapor nanobubbles around the particles. The bubbles perforate the cell membrane making it permeable to the surrounding DNA, before closing over time. The cell remains perfectly viable. Credit: Polytechnique Montreal.
