Volvo's EX90: reduced shipments
Volvo's flagship EX90 SUV features Luminar's lidar technology as standard, and the sensor unit can be seen above the windshield in this image. However, a delayed launch and new US trade tariffs have impacted sales of the car, with analyst IHS Markit reportedly cutting its sales forecast by 15,000 units this year. Luminar has cut its own shipment forecast for 2025 by 10,000 units, with CFO Tom Fennimore adding that the company was "underwater" on Volvo sensor economics, with the units currently costing more to produce than the price they are sold at. Production is now being transitioned from Mexico to Thailand to reduce costs. Photo: Volvo Cars.
