Intel photonics
Mario Paniccia, holding the four-laser transmit module developed by Intel's silicon photonics team. The lasers actually feature a hybrid InP/silicon design, using the compound semiconductor to emit and amplify light, with gratings inside the silicon acting as mirrors. The latest version features lasers emitting at four different wavelengths around the 1310 nm region, in a form of coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM). Credit: Intel.
