The Position The Senior Optical Specialist position will sit within the Department of Material Physics, Research School of Physics. The Senior Optical Specialist will undertake optical research and development activities within the Imaging Science team, provide specialist technical support in the area of Optics. This position is responsible for managing and ensuring that necessary optics standards and technical facilities requirements are met for assigned projects.

The Person We are looking for a qualified Optical Specialist with experience in management of complex optical assignments relating to optical imaging and interferometry systems, entailing technical specifications, design, modelling, alignment, testing, detailed planning and delivery of support documentation. A strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to quickly develop productive, professional relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. Highly developed organisational skills and effective self-management are key.
