NDK is world leader of crystal products. We provide xtal unit, xtal oscillator etc.

NDK’s optical components that utilize the optical properties of quartz crystals (birefringence and broadband wavelength characteristics).

We realize highly reliable and high quality optical components through “high quality quartz crystal materials” using high purity synthetic quartz crystals grown in-house, “highly reliable optical thin film technology,” and “high-precision processing technology.”

1. Optical low-pass filter

Optical filter element that separates incident rays into ordinary rays and extraordinary rays for the purpose of removing false signals.

High image quality is realized by reducing the occurrence of patterns (moiré) and colors (false colors) that do not actually exist.

In particular, the multi-point separation design of low-pass filters for broadcasting and movies effectively removes false signals of moving images, etc.

Also, by combining with low reflection coating technology, etc., it is possible to effectively remove image defects caused by false signals as well as ghost/flare caused by multiple reflections.

In addition to quartz crystals, we also offer components made using lithium niobate as the birefringent material. We also provide various thin film coatings such as conductive films and water repellent films.

  Our birefringent materials are made with synthetic quartz crystals grown in-house, so they offer exceptionally high quality.

  We offer custom designs that are optimized for image sensors.

  We offer a wide range of coatings such as UV/IR-cut, antireflection film, conductive film, and water repellent film upon request.

  Filter glass bonding is also available upon request.

2. Quartz Crystal Wave Plate

Optical element that utilizes the difference in velocity between ordinary ray and extraordinary ray due to the birefringence of quartz crystals to create retardations between the two rays.

A wide range of wave plates is available, including multiple zero order wave plates, compound zero order wave plates, and true zero order wave plates, using quartz crystals as the birefringent material.

  • High quality quartz crystal wave plate with synthetic quartz crystals grown in-house used as the birefringent material.
  • We can accommodate phase accuracy up to ± 1° with high-precision thickness processing accuracy.
  • According to your requirements, we can design and supply any design wavelengths and/or retardations.
  • We can offer multi, compound, and true zero order types.
  • Large sizes and thin types are available.
  • We can accommodate external dimensions up to 4 inches and thicknesses from 50 µm at minimum for true zero order.
  • We can also perform chipping from wafers upon request.

3. Quartz Crystal Wave Plate for High Power Laser

“N-Grade EX,” the highest purity synthetic quartz crystal with excellent resistance that is grown in-house, can be used as the birefringent material. 

Since N-Grade EX is not degraded by laser irradiation, it is the ideal material for semiconductor lithography equipment and high power lasers.

Wave plates for lasers are used to change the direction of laser polarization and improve processing homogeneity, while quartz crystal windows are used to protect against laser damage and prevent contamination.

We provide long life and highly reliable wave plates with excellent laser resistance utilizing our superior substrate processing, coating, and bonding technologies.

     <Features>

  • "N-Grade EX," a synthetic quartz crystal of the highest purity with excellent laser resistance, is available.
  • Due to its high laser resistance using "N-Grade EX," the highest purity synthetic quartz crystal, it can maintain high transmittance even at the absorption edge in the vacuum ultraviolet region.
  • It has high transmittance in the terahertz band and can be used for medical and security applications.
  • Large sizes up to Φ200 mm (Laser grade) are available.

4. ND Filter

Can be used as an optical filter to adjust light intensity and color temperature.

By applying various coatings to various substrates, a variety of optical properties can be realized, either by the substrate alone or in combination with filters with optical properties of other functions.

  • ND filters are available in various Optical Densities, and the light dimming rate is constant over a wide range of wavelengths.
  • The low reflective design takes reflection into consideration, and ghosting, etc., is prevented by the coating.
  • Glass type ND filters are also available.

5. Window

We can also provide substrates using “N-Grade EX,” an ultra high purity quartz crystal grown with technology developed over many years at NDK.

We provide high quality quartz crystal wafers cut with high precision at arbitrary angles.

  • Those substrates exhibit excellent resistance to laser and in radiation environments.
