| Shing-Chung Wang's team from National Chiao Tung University has produced the first electrically-pumped GaN VCSEL. The design features an ITO layer on top of the aperture that delivers current injection into the active region. AlGaN/GaN superlattices are inserted into the n-type DBR to reduce tensile strain and prevent epiwafer cracking. |
