Large mode area fiber
This image shows the cross section of the 70 micron core diameter rod-type photonic crystal fiber used in this experiment. It includes a hexagonal lattice of air holes with a diameter of 0.9 microns and a hole-to-hole spacing of approximately 12.7 microns. The inner cladding has a diameter of 180 microns and a numerical aperture as high as 0.6 at the pump wavelength. (Image credit: Bulend Ortac)
