Sydor Optics Now Offering Sapphire Windows in Volume

Sydor Optics manufactures custom sapphire windows using a specialized, high speed, double-sided grinding and polishing process. We can process multiple parts in a group quickly making this cost effective when compared to processing one surface at a time.

Sapphire is an excellent material of choice when durability and broadband transmission from the UV to Mid IR are required. The material is commonly used in critical environments where abrasion resistance and extreme temperatures are encountered such as defense and aerospace applications as well medical applications where safety is of the utmost concern.

We offer both CNC machining and double-sided grinding/polishing services to produce custom parts that are to spec, on budget and on time.

• Working with C-plane sapphire
• Any shape up to 200 mm in diameter/diagonal, larger window designs will need to be reviewed by our engineers
• Thickness starting at 1 mm with tolerances down to +/-0.010mm
• Cosmetics to 20-10
• Transmitted wavefront better than ¼ wave
• Parallelism better than 5 arc seconds
• Currently producing over 2,000 sapphire windows per month
• Interferometry available for both 633nm and 3.39um wavelengths
• Available with antireflective coatings
