The largest stack-array deformable mirror in the world | |
23 Sep 2016 Stack Array Mirrors can be equipped with up to several thousands of actuators. They provide high order corrections with large inter-actuator stroke. SAMs are well-adapted for high order deformable mirrors required on future extremely large telescopes. Early in 2016, TMT has entrusted CILAS the design and the manufacture of the deformable mirror prototype for the Thirty Meter Telescope. This Multi-Conjugate Adaptive Optics (MCAO) system will provide diffraction-limited performance to the telescope. This performance will be accomplished using in particular two deformable mirrors conjugated to 0 km and 11 km altitude. The first one DM0, conjugated to ground, is mounted in a Tip Tilt Stage (TTS). This DM will have 3125 actuators (63x63 array) and a pupil diameter around 325 mm. The second one DM11 will have 4548 actuators (76x76 array) and a pupil diameter around 385 mm. https://www.cilas.com/en/adaptive-mirrors
