Luton, UK -- The projection that TRUMPF UK sales will close at the end this current financial year at more than £52 million was certainly enhanced by orders the company received at its Open House event that ran from 12th – 14th June.

The projection that TRUMPF UK sales will close at the end this current financial year at more than £52 million was certainly enhanced by orders the company received at its Open House event that ran from 12th – 14th June.

TRUMPF UK welcomed more than 200 visitors from 130 manufacturing companies and several were sufficiently impressed by what they saw to make an investment; confirming this event to be among the highlights of the sheet metalworking calendar in UK.

TRUMPF UK reports confirmed orders across its product ranges including the TruBend, TruPunch, TruMark and TruLaser including a TruLaser Tube cutting machine.  In total the order value was around £3 million.

All TRUMPF technologies were featured at the show but the focus was on Industry 4.0, automation and the connected factory at every stage of implementation.  Early feedback has confirmed that many visitors benefited significantly from the guidance of TRUMPF experts in this field who came from Austria, Germany and the USA.

Machine highlights included the TruLaser 3030 6kW and TruLaser 5030 8kW machines, both with BrightLine fiber, the TruPunch 5000 with SheetMaster, the TruBend 5130 with various productivity features and the TruTool power tools including the new 18V range.

Open House also proved the excellent launch platform for the new TruLaser 2030 4kW BrightLine fiber machine in the UK, an entry level product for flat sheet laser cutting which sparked much interest.

New senior management team

Trumpf UK has also announced that Annette Doyle is leaving her post as Managing Director of TRUMPF UK to continue her career with TRUMPF US in Farmington. Going forward the  management of UK operations is transferring to a team with a combined 60 years of TRUMPF experience across several countries.

The new management team is takes the helm of a hugely successful business that recorded an unprecedented order intake from 2016 to 2017, a trend which has continued and is expected reach a value of more than £52 million at the end of this financial year.

TRUMPF UK is delighted to confirm that with effect from 1st July 2018 Lee Moakes heads the new senior team as Managing Director. Since 2014 he has been the company’s Technical Director and overseen the implementation of several customer-focused initiatives that have ensured after-sales support is equal in quality to the design and build of TRUMPF products.

Lee joined TRUMPF in 2000 as a laser service engineer and has steadily climbed the management ladder, progressing through project management to become General Manager for after sales with TRUMPF India before returning to a senior management role in the UK four years ago.

He commented: “From a personal perspective, my story shows that there is opportunity for progression for all employees working within TRUMPF whether this be locally or internationally.  I have been given so much encouragement along the way and will soon be completing my master’s degree in finance to complement my engineering skills.”

The second new appointment is Gerry Jones as Sales Director.  Gerry’s career with TRUMPF UK started in 1994 in laser sales and he too has risen through the ranks to manage the national sales team for both lasers and systems.

“The continual development of our products and technologies brings new opportunities to our customers, allowing us to grow together,” Gerry said. “There is no sign of this slowing down, in fact with more exciting developments to come, there is plenty to look forward to.”

The third new member of the senior management team is Juergen Herr. He too is a time-served TRUMPF employee with eighteen years of service to his name.  As the new Finance Director, Juergen together with his team ensure TRUMPF UK continues to be a reliable partner for all customers and provide them with dedicated financial solutions via the TRUMPF Bank.
