NIDEK launches the YLC-500 Vixi and YLC-500

Date Announced: 10 Jan 2017

Optically pumped semiconductor laser aimd at photocoagulation applications.

January 10, 2017, Gamagori, JAPAN - NIDEK CO. LTD., a global leader in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of ophthalmic, optometric, and lens edging equipment, is pleased to announce the launch of the YLC-500 Vixi Yellow Scan Laser Photocoagulator / YLC-500 Yellow Laser Photocoagulator.

The YLC-500 Vixi / YLC-500 is a yellow laser using the innovative OPSL (optically pumped semiconductor laser) method for stable and reliable laser delivery, generating optimal treatment outcomes. The 577 nm yellow laser is minimally absorbed by xanthophyll and is well absorbed by oxygenated hemoglobin compared to the 532 nm laser, making it the wavelength of choice for lesions close to the macula.

A wide range of selectable delivery units are available for the YLC-500 Vixi / YLC-500. In addition to single delivery units, scan delivery units are available for a wide range of
yellow laser delivery systems.

Incorporating Vixi, scan delivery units, into the YLC-500 enables laser treatments with various scan patterns. The YLC-500 Vixi has 22 preprogrammed scan patterns to allow treatment of diverse retinal pathologies.

One of the remarkable, user-friendly features is the auto forward mode. With this feature, the aiming beam and scan pattern is automatically positioned to the next region of interest
once photocoagulation is completed in one region. This feature allows the surgeon to concentrate on adjusting focus enhancing treatment efficiency and reducing patient chair time.

The 577 nm yellow laser YLC-500 with Vixi, scan delivery units, provides optimal treatment outcomes with greater applications, a wider treatment range and greater surgical efficiency.
