Mountains of ice
One of the most striking features seen on the surface of Pluto so far is a range of icy mountains that are as high as the Alps but younger than the Himalayas. Exactly what is causing the apparent geological activity is one of the mysteries that scientists will be working hard to unravel as more data arrives back from the probe. Credit: NASA/JHUAPL/SwRI.
