The book-to-bill ratio for North American makers of semiconductor equipment slumped to just 0.71 in September 2011, coming off the back of an extremely strong boom that began in early 2010. On this occasion, it now looks like the hiatus in demand will be a relatively brief one, with the book-to bill figure already back above unity and indicating a market recovery in the second half of 2012.
