In response to growing demand for microoptics for fiber optic communications, semiconductors, biophotonics and defense.

Jenoptik is responding to the growing demand for microoptics used in fiber optic communications, semiconductors, biophotonics and defense applications with the installation of new photolithography equipment in its Huntsville, AL facility.

The Germany-headquartered company, which operates three US locations – in Huntsville AL, Rochester Hills, MI, and Jupiter, FL – is this week presenting its diverse capabilities at the Optical Networking and Communication Conference & Exhibition (OFC) in San Diego, CA, through March 7th.

Jay Kumler, President of Jenoptik Optical Systems in North America, commented, "We are investing in differentiating technologies, increasing cleanroom capacity, advanced equipment and employees. The new photolithography equipment represents our most recent financial and technical commitment to advancing state-of-the-art microoptics fabrication.”

With new automated production ready photolithography equipment, Jenoptik is able to increase its capacity and support developments and improvements, including: larger wafer diameters; tighter specifications; and higher resolution for larger diffraction angles.

Gregg Borek, VP Microoptics and General Manager of Huntsville, AL Operations, added, “We are committed to continuing to meet our customers’ expectations for a stable and reliable high volume manufacturing environment.”

The new photolithography equipment investment follows the company’s recent investments the cleanroom environment at its Jupiter, Florida facility, including new etching equipment, better wafer handling and cleaning equipment.

The company further stated, “Leading equipment manufacturers around the globe rely on Jenoptik’s products to build digital projection, mobile devices, augmented reality, industrial automation and connected vehicles. Our optical systems are helping lead the digital transformation and internet of things.”
