Fianium have introduced the FP1060-HE range of high-energy ultrafast fiber lasers for applications as diverse as eye surgery and glass panel scribing.

The lasers are based on a robust, reliable modelocked fiber laser generating ultrafast pulses with no complicated and sensitive free-space cavities or amplification.

The laser platform is flexible and upgradable with multiple configurations possible in the same industry standard 19” rack-mount laser chassis and compact remote optical head. The laser systems feature an external modulator allowing pulse repetition rates from single shot to 20MHz and enabling highly flexible pulse shaping and burst-mode operation.

High pulse energies of up to 10µJ, with less than 20ps pulse widths, allow processing of challenging materials including polymers, glasses, organic tissue and reflective metals. Peak powers can be further enhanced to greater than 5MW by compressing the pulses to less than 500fs. Optional frequency conversion to green or UV wavelengths further expand the range of applications of this versatile laser.
The combination of high peak powers and low duty cycle mean that cold processing of materials can be achieved with greatly reduced thermal effects such as melting and micro-cracking. The exceptional beam quality from the fiber laser provides unrivalled focusability making these lasers ideal for micromachining with the highest precision.
