mso jena is one of the leading German manufacturer of interference coatings, e.g. interference filters, thin film polarizers, AR- and HR-coatings.

Spectral reflectance and transmittance of the coatings are adjusted according to specific needs in the UV-NIR spectral range.

Based on sophisticated technological know-how and comprehensive practical experience, hard coatings are deposited by ionized-plasma assisted deposition (Leybold APS). The coatings excel by long-term spectral stability and high mechanical hardness. In combination with photolithography patterned coatings or filter arrays are produced, e.g. for spectral masking of photodiodes.

mso jena GmbH was founded in 1998 by Uwe Schallenberg and Dr. Stefan Jakobs, former staff of Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics in Jena. After a successful start within the premises of the Institute, mso jena opened new facilities in September 2001. Extended capacities can now be used by 10 highly skilled employees under conditions that are appropriate for reliable high-tech manufacturing.

UV Filters
mso jena offers low loss multilayer coatings based on ion-assisted deposited HfO2 and SiO2 thin-films as OEM solutions for UV optics in the wavelength region l > 230 nm. Because absorption loss is an essential parameter of an UV filter, an advanced deposition technology helps to manufacture single-substrate all-dielectric UV filters with band transmittance up to 97% and blocking exclusively by reflectance. All types of filters, beam splitters, polarizers, mirrors and AR coatings are available as well as dual band UV-VIS coatings, based on the same HfO2/SiO2 technology.
